VALLEJO – A trampoline park may be coming to the city very soon.
The Vallejo Planning Commission will be asked Monday to hold a public hearing and approve an application to create a 40,964-square-foot indoor Sky Zone Trampoline Park inside the former Bed, Bath, & Beyond store in Plaza Drive.
Under the proposal, the space would include trampolines, foam pits, swings, slides, arcade games and basketball courts. A cafe offering food and non-alcoholic beverages would also be included. The space would feature a toddler-specific area, storage lockers and parent seating to observe the arena.
The business would be open seven days per week and employ 5 to 10 full-time and approximately 100 part-time employees, according to the staff report. The hours of operation would be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Sundays through Thursdays, and 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
No exterior modifications would be made to the building except signage.
City staff is recommending that the Planning Commission approve the project.
“The proposed indoor trampoline park is compatible with the surrounding commercial uses in that the shopping center was designed to accommodate a wide variety of commercial uses,” wrote Robby Thacker, a principal planner with the city of Vallejo, in a staff report. “The facility would also support and compliment other commercial businesses within the shopping center in that visitors to the indoor trampoline park may also patronize other businesses within the plaza.”
The proposed space has been vacant for several years following Bed, Bath & Beyond’s decision to declare bankruptcy in April 2023 and shutter all of its retail locations. The brand has since been revived as an online retailer.
Founded in 2004, Sky Zone has more than 260 locations, including in the city of Vacaville, according to the business.
The Vallejo Planning Commission will meet at 7 p.m., Monday, March 3 inside the Vallejo City Hall Council Chambers, 555 Santa Clara Street.
