VALLEJO – Vallejo Police Chief Shawny Williams along with several other Bay Area African American police chiefs will participate in a virtual town hall meeting tonight to discuss racial profiling, use of force, and the Police Officer Bill of Rights, it was announced this week.

Called the 2020 Achievement Week Symposium: Highlighting Bay Area’s African American Police Chiefs, the town hall held over Zoom will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and is hosted by the Theta Pi Chapter, an unincorporated chapter of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.

Sacramento Police Chief Daniel Hawn, Richmond Police Chief Bisa French are also scheduled to participate in the panel, which will be moderated by San Francisco District 10 Supervisor Shamann Walton and James Walker, former district representative for the 12th District of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.

The panel will also discuss what it means to defund the police.

“The town hall also falls in line with the direction of the 12th District of the fraternity, which has also established a committee focused on the relationship between the community and policing,” the fraternity said in a news release.

The zoom meeting ID is 92099265622. The password is 3670420.
