VALLEJO – The Vallejo City Council will meet during a special meeting next week to approve an agreement with an outside legal firm to investigate a personnel complaint.

During the special meeting called for Monday, June 8, the council will mull over whether to approve the service agreement with the Oakland-based Aleshire & Wynder, LLP.

“The city received a personnel complaint which necessitates an outside investigator to conduct an investigation,” city officials wrote in a staff report.

The staff report doesn’t provide any more information about the complaint. However, according to the service agreement, the firm is being retained to “represent (the) City, including its City Council, officers and employees in connection with legal matters where a conflict of interest or potential conflict of interest exists.”

The agreement is retroactively set to June 1 and doesn’t have an end date, but it does require a 60-day termination notice. The hourly rate for partners is $445, senior counsel and senior attorneys is $420, associate attorneys is $395, and $300 for paralegals and law clerks, the agreement states.

According to its website, “Aleshire & Wynder, LLP provides unparalleled legal representation to public agencies throughout California. Our attorneys have been loyally serving public agencies for over 50 years. As a full service law firm, we handle all aspects of our clients’ needs and provide innovative, ethical and cost-effective solutions.”

The Vallejo City Council is scheduled to hold a special meeting at 5:30 p.m., Monday, June 8 inside the Vallejo City Hall Council Chambers, 555 Santa Clara Street.
