Vallejo seeks applicants for city boards, committees and commissions

VALLEJO – Do you want to make a difference in the city of Vallejo? Then you’re in luck. City officials are inviting residents to apply for one of the many open positions on Vallejo’s various boards, committees and commissions.

“These groups help guide local decisions, shape policy, and bring new ideas to life—so your voice truly matters. Whether you’re passionate about arts, planning, economic development, or community services, there’s a place for you to contribute,” officials said in a June 3 press release. “If you’re ready to step up and get involved, submit your application and supplemental questionnaire today. Vallejo’s future is being built now—let’s shape it together!”

There are currently openings on the following boards, commissions, and committees:

Architectural Heritage & Landmarks Commission: 1 vacancy (term to expire 12/31/26)

Beautification Commission: 3 vacancies (2 terms to expire 6/30/30 and 1 to expire 6/30/28)

Civil Service Commission: 1 vacancy (term to expire 6/30/30) 

Design Review Board: 2 vacancies (1 term to expire 6/30/30 and 1 term to expire 6/30/28) 

Economic Development Commission:– 4 vacancies (3 terms to expire 6/30/30 and 1 to expire 6/30/27) 

Housing Authority: – 2 tenant commissioners (terms to expire 12/31/26)

Both tenant commissioners must be in the Housing Choice Voucher Program, and 1 must be 62 years of age or older 

Human Relations Commission: – 1 vacancy (term to expire 6/30/30)

Marina Advisory Committee: – 2 berther vacancies (terms to expire 6/30/30) and 2 at-large vacancies (terms to expire 6/30/30)

McCune Collection Commission: – 3 vacancies (1 term to expire 6/30/30, 1 term to expire 6/30/28 and 1 term to expire 6/30/27)

Measure P Oversight Committee: applicants must reside in the district as noted below:

District 1 vacancy (term to expire 10/10/26)

District 2 vacancy (term to expire 10/10/28)

District 6 vacancy (term to expire 10/10/26)

Police Oversight & Accountability Commission: applicants must reside in the district as noted below:

         District 2 vacancy (4 years from date of appointment)

Participatory Budgeting Steering Committee: – 2 member & 3 alternate vacancies (terms to expire 6/30/27)

Planning Commission:– 2 vacancies (1 term to expire 6/30/30 and 1 term to expire 6/30/28)

Sister City Commission: – 3 vacancies (terms to expire 6/30/30)

Newly appointed members to city boards, commissions and committees must submit a Statement of Economic Interests, Form 700, within 30 days of their appointment. The following advisory bodies are exempt:

• Beautification Commission
• Civil Service Commission
• Human Relations Commission
• Marina Advisory Committee
• McCune Collection Commission
• Participatory Budgeting Steering Committee
• Sister City Commission

All new appointees must also complete AB 1234 Ethics training and file a Certificate of Completion within six months of commencing service.

In most instances, applicants must be residents of the city of Vallejo to be eligible for appointment. Information regarding the duties of each board and commission, and specific criteria for appointment, may be found within each application. With some exceptions, appointments are typically for a 4-year term.

The application period will remain open until 5 p.m., Friday, June 26.

Applicants must attend the interview to be considered for appointment on a board or commission. Applicant interview dates to be determined.
