Vallejo updates its mask requirements for city buildings; fully vaccinated don’t have to wear a mask

VALLEJO – Starting Monday, fully vaccinated members of the public will be allowed inside Vallejo’s city buildings without the need to wear a mask, the city announced Saturday.

The change in mask requirements is in accordance with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and Cal/OSHA, officials added.

“Members of the public wishing to enter City Hall will be asked about their vaccination status before entering. Those who are not fully vaccinated or declining to answer will be required to wear a mask at all times while inside of City Hall,” officials added in the same press release. “The term ‘fully vaccinated’ means the person has received the second dose in a two-dose COVID-19 vaccine series (or a single-dose COVID-19 vaccine) and it has been 14 days since their last/final shot.”

Officials said the same stipulations apply all city employees.

“To protect the public, all employees who have not been fully vaccinated or decline to inform our Human Resources Department of their vaccination status will be required to wear a mask indoors and outdoors if closer than six feet to another person,” officials explained.

In a follow-up interview, Vallejo Spokeswoman Christina Lee said appointments are not needed to visit City Hall, “but if people would prefer to schedule a time they can still do that.”

Lee said City Hall’s hours remain 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Thursday.
